Summer in the South

Beautiful flowers, vegetables in the garden, bees buzzing by, ever so busy and children reading books during the heat of the day and running around everywhere in the evening. Thank you Lord for the Seasons!

Here is something else that's helping us with our grocery budget. Kevin is very supportive and is always pleased when he comes home to a table full of jars and a sticky floor. All of this was from 1 Bushel of Apples and a Basket of Concord Grapes.

He even bought me this to help my efforts. I sure did enjoy using it and had lots of offers of help!

A wonderful thing happened to me, I was given to the most precious, loving parents that ever lived. I don't know why the Lord was so kind to me but I sure do thank Him for His Goodness!

As a little girl I knew I would never leave my parents, when I told them that, they would laugh and say, "One day when you're all grown up you'll change your mind." Guess what, I didn't change my mind and Kevin loves them and their company almost as much as I do.

My Lovely Mother

When Levi was born a couple of weeks ago Gabe looked down at him and said, "Now there's 11 of us". The children feel the same about their grandparents as me and Kevin. The Lord continues His mercy and kindness towards us!

Our Home-Birth Story

Our home birth started about 7 years ago when I was expecting Gabe. After 3 hospital births I knew there was a better way. Not knowing any midwives though I was reading books about Unassisted Homebirth, Kevin was not comfortable being responsible for delivering a baby with no help (Huge Understatement). So Gabe was born at the hospital.

Then with Ella a few years later I was even more convinced I wanted to have her at home. By this time we had met or knew of a few people that were having their babies at home but still no midwives in sight and Kevin was still not going to go it alone. So Ellie was born at the hospital (the Lord gave us a wonderful birth but still way too much intervention and aggravation).

With Levi the Lord heard my prayers and at my first visit to the obstetrician he told us that because Emmy and Ivey had been born by C-Section the new insurance policy required that the new baby be delivered by C-Section, never mind that I'd delivered 2 babies naturally before and 2 more after. He told us that he believed that this was 'bad medicine' and that it wasn't a good choice for either baby or mommy but if he did delivery the baby naturally not only would his insurance increase $40,000 per year but all of the other doctors in his practice would also experience the same $40,000 per year increase. He said that he knew of no doctors still doing VBACs in our town or even in Atlanta (about 100 miles from us) and suggested that we find another option.

He knew that I had been wanting to have a homebirth so we understood what he meant. Also, some new friends of ours just about 50 miles away had a homebirth with a midwife so we were very hopeful of finding someone to help us.

We found a lovely, sweet and most importantly Christian lady who has delivered many, many babies. She was such a blessing and so helpful. We saw her once for lunch and then talked to her several times on the phone. We knew then that our Heavenly Father was overseeing this birth and both Kevin and I had a great deal of peace.

I carried Levi longer than any other of our babies and at 38 weeks I finally went into labor. Saturday morning I was on the phone with mom and I was holding Ella and I had a hard contraction. It wasn't particularly different than the other Braxton Hicks I'd been having for the past 2 weeks but there was something about it, so I showered and we recleaned everything. After a couple of hours I was sure this was finally the real thing and Kevin called our midwife. She arrived 1 hour before Levi was born and 4 hours after my phone call with mom. My water never did break until his birth but it was an easy and peaceful birth and Kevin is now convinced that home birth is the very best option.

All of this for about $1.30 OOP. I am having so much fun doing this! I was out of commission for a couple of weeks because of our new little blessing. Last week was a great week to get back into things, this week isn't as good but I'm going to do a couple more monthly deals to build my ECB's back up. I'm down to about 14 because I had some almost expire while I was still home-bound. Kevin picked up some Burt's Bees soap for the boys, it was expensive but better than letting the ECB's expire and it sure did help their chapped hands (while it lasted).

Hello and Welcome! I hope that you enjoy your visit and that our Father will be glorified! For my first post I would like to thank the other ladies who have inspired me to start my own blog.
Most recently Mrs. Wilt at The Sparrow's Nest has been an absolute blessing to me. Her site is lovely, friendly, helpful and most importantly Christ honoring. As a little girl I began to pray that others would see Jesus in me, Mrs. Wilt is a shining example of that desire.
Ladies against Feminism and Jennie Chancey is another high ideal. Her website is full to the brim with good things, things to make us think and understand why it is that we do what we do as Christian ladies. She is also a lovely, godly woman. May the Lord continue to bless her efforts.
Lady Lydia is truly a blessing, to read her posts you feel like you are speaking to her over a cup of tea. She has a very special way of writing and I am always inspired to straighten up and fly right after reading her posts.
Also Laine's Letters has been my dear friend for many years. It was Laine that introduced me to rising early to spend the first-fruits of my time with my Lord. She is so humble before the Lord and so helpful in orthopraxy that she has blessed my life in many ways.
